Grape Festival
The biggest event in Borgomanero is the annual appointment with the “Festa dell’Uva” (Grape Feast): a group of cultural, folk and sports events which take place in September and last about ten days.
Many bands perform on stage in the main square and clowns, jugglers and waders brighten up the main streets.
The feast begins with the arrival, at the railway station, of the local stock characters: Sciura Togna and her servant Carulena (stringently role-played by two men in female clothes) and ends with the traditional parade of carnival floats whose leading theme is the grape harvest.
The night before the main streets turn into big dining rooms. Very long tables are prepared for all those citizens who want to eat “polenta e tapulone”, the local dish, served with “gorgonzola” and our delicious local wines.

THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PASSION IN SORDEVOLO
The Passion of Christ of Sordevolo is a popular theatrical performance that has been staged every five years since 1814 by the people of the Piedmontese town of Sordevolo, in the province of Biella.
It involves over 400 inhabitants that, for the occasion, become actors, extras, musicians and stage operatores.
It is one of the most important choral performances staged in Italy and attracts over 30,000 spectators from all over the world.
The performance takes place in a large open-air arena measuring about four thousand square metres.

THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PASSION IN ROMAGNANO
This sacred representation, which narrates the Passion of Jesus, has a tradition that dates back to 1729.
The event involves more than 300 actors and extras, many of them from the town of Romagnano.
Three historical processions are planned, including a solemn evening procession on the good Friday. The whole representation lasts three days
