The Park

The main structure of the park was laid down centuries ago during the last glaciation, when Lake Maggiore was a glacier. The trails are also marked according to the following four themes:

Woodland – Approximatley three quarters of the park is covered in woodland, mainly oak, chestnut and birch, home to many small animals.

Archeology – There are two sets of ancient tombs, one a Bronze Age burial dating from the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. and the other from the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D. during the Roman period.

Wetlands – The wetlands were formed when the glacial ice melted approximately 10,000 years ago.

Human Activity – The main human activity in the park is the training of race horses. There are various other small enterprises related to the environment.
